QUIZZING FOR CHARITY

Quiz nights at the Fox and Coney Inn, South Cave, are benefitting charities, both local and national. £500 has just been donated to the Willow Foundation, set up by goalkeeper Bob Wilson after his daughter Anna died of cancer at the age of just 31.

The Willow Foundation provides "special days" for those living with conditions like cancer, motor neurone disease, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy and organ failure.

The quizzes are hosted by Rod Arnold, himself a former goalkeeper, who has worked with Bob Wilson at his coaching school.

"It's great to be able to support the Willow Foundation in this way. Anna was a lovely girl and the charity provides a welcome distraction from hospital treatments. To date, it has already provided more than 7000 special days for seriously ill young people."

SARA THRUSTLE WINS THE FOX FACTOR!

Sara Thrustle is crowned Fox Factor Champion!

The winner of East Yorkshire's best ever talent competition, the Fox Factor, is Sara Thrustle from West Hull.

Singer Sara, who is 29, almost left the competition halfway through when her mother sadly died, but tonight she reigned triumphant and said:

"My mum was my biggest fan and she'd have been shouting from the rooftops tonight. I didn't know whether or not I'd be able to continue, but I am so grateful to have won, particularly after hearing such amazing performances from everyone else."

Fox Factor judge Rosie Madison, from 96.9 Viking FM, who compered the evening at the Fox and Coney Inn, South Cave, said:

"Sara is definitely a worthy winner. Tonight was absolutely fantastic. All the finalists stepped up their game. The whole competition has blown me away and I think people who came to the final, who hadn't heard the singers before, were amazed at the high standard of all contestants."

You can find Sara on Facebook at ZARAFANCLUB and her Lady Gaga Tribute page LADYZAZA.

Meanwhile, in second place was Summer Rozenbroek who pocketed £500 which she is planning to put towards her fees for the world-renowned Italia Conti academy. Summer starts there in September, so we'll be following her progress!

And former X Factor bootcamper Tobias Sumpton came third, winning £250. Congratulations to all of our winners and a huge thank you to all of our finalists and to everyone who has taken part in the Fox Factor, in association with 96.9 Viking FM.

.....AND AFTER A QUICK CHANGE....!

East Yorkshire's best ever talent competition, in association with 96.9 Viking FM, is now in its final stages at the Fox and Coney Inn, South Cave. The Fox Factor competitors are now singing their final song of the competition.

A change of clothes for everyone! So far we've heard "Dancing in the Street" from Becca Baldwin - another great performance. Beth O'Grady with "Let's Stick Together", followed by Dean Wildbore, donning a Bon Jovi wig, singing "You Give Love a Bad Name!" Weird but true - and strangely excellent!

Georgia Drew was up next with the classic "Can't Buy Me Love" but judges said that although she sang it brilliantly, she lacked stage confidence. "You're better than you think!" they said.

Jack Craven gave an "original and inspired" performance of "Alright Now!" He was told: "You could win this competition!" Meanwhile, Jess Bannister gave a stunning performance - the best version of her song ever heard, according to head judge Vince Garcia. After Kristian Eastwood's "Take What You Want" the panel told him: "You're right up there with everyone else. This is going to be so difficult!" I know what they mean!

Laura Prescott impressed, as expected, with "You Can't Hurry Love!" She has been consistent throughout this competition.

Judges absolutely raved about next finalist up to the plate - Olivia Windmill. Olivia sang Kings of Leon's "Sex on Fire" - and she's now been branded a Rock Chick! Well deserved, too - she was totally fab! Meanwhile, another belter from Sara Thrustle, with Heart's "Alone". Absolutely amazing!

Summer Rozenbroek's "Let's Stay Together" was fantastic! Judges said she absolutely smashed it! Meanwhile, Tamar Draper gave an awesome rendition of the T.Rex classic "Get It On!"

Last up was ex-X Factor bootcamper Tobias Sumpton and "Stuck In the Middle With You!" And what a nightmare - poor Tobias forgot his words at the end. He's been so good throughout the competition - will that have cost him the title?

It's wide open now. Voting restarts now. Keep checking the blog and @foxandconeyinn on Twitter for the latest!

LIVE AT THE FOX FACTOR FINAL 2

The Fox Factor Final, East Yorkshire's best ever talent competition, in association with 96.9 Viking FM at the Fox and Coney Inn, South Cave.

Kristian Eastwood could be a reincarnation of Michael Buble. Just close your eyes and it could be him! A fantastic performance at the Fox Factor Final - and judges couldn't fault him, saying he was absolutely brilliant!

Laura Prescott was up next - and she certainly didn't disappoint! Singing"Cry Me A River", she was "pitch perfect" and "faultless", according to the judges.

Olivia Windmill also gave an amazing performance of "Moondance", even though she's been ill all week, whilst Sara Thrustle was a total diva, belting out "Summertime". Fox Factor Judge Vince Garcia said: "Perfect. You look gorgeous. You sang brilliantly. Come on!"......and the audience went wild!

Summer Rozenbroek, who broke her ankle earlier in the competition, managed to stand up on stage tonight instead of sitting on a stool, as she has done in the last few rounds! And boy, what a performance with "Feeling Good!"

Tamar Draper gave a "beautiful performance" of "That ol' devil called love" and Tobias Sumpton gave a great rendition of Michael Buble's "Haven't Met You Yet".

All the contestants have now sung their first song - and voting has started!

Keep checking the blog for the next update later tonight!

LIVE AT THE FOX FACTOR FINAL!

We're live at the Fox Factor Final for East Yorkshire's best ever talent competition at the Fox and Coney Inn, South Cave.

Six of the final 13 contestants have already sung their first "Swing" song - and we're having a short break before the remaining seven! So far they've all been fantastic!

Becca Baldwin, singing "Walk on By", was told by judges she was perfectly in tune and the performance was perfectly delivered. Beth O'Grady sang "I wanna love that man". The judges said she look comfortable and looked good (in fact, she was a vision in red!)

An absolutely fantastic performance followed by Dean Wildbore, with "Mambo River". Georgia Drew did a beautiful version of "At Last". Meanwhile, Jack Craven's "Mr Bojangles" was described by judges as "fantastic, absolutely brill! A great voice and great stage presence."

Jess Bannister, who got engaged last week, sang "Here, there and everywhere". A brilliant performance. She was told she had "the voice of an angel!" And we agree! Congratulations to Jess on her engagement!

Keep following the blog for the latest updates!

THE FOX FACTOR FAVOURITES!

Sara Thrustle topped the semi-final overall leaderboard!
You'll want to know who topped the leaderboard in the Fox Factor semi-finals at the Fox and Coney Inn, South Cave, East Yorkshire. The judges top 3 were Laura Prescott, Summer Rozenbroek and Sara Thrustle. As usual, the audience didn't necessarily agree! The public vote went to Becca Baldwin, followed by Tamar Draper and Samantha Bird. Overall, though, once ALL the votes had been counted and added together, we saw Sara Thrustle at the top of the leaderboard, closely followed by Summer Rozenbroek and Laura Prescott. Who wins the Grand Fox Factor Final is anyone's guess at this stage. It's going to be a tough one! Make sure you've got your ticket. They're available at the Fox and Coney Inn. Watch this space for more details of what's going to happen on the night!

THIRTEEN LEFT TO BATTLE IT OUT FOR FOX FACTOR TITLE

Unlucky! Samantha Bird didn't make it to the Final.

It was another amazing night at the Fox and Coney Inn, South Cave, as 17 competitors sang their hearts out to win a place in the Grand Fox Factor Final. There wasn't an inch to move as fans packed out both the Fox and the Bear Inn across the road, where they could watch the action via a live video feed. Former music producer and Fox Factor judge, Vince Garcia, said: "The standard of all the contestants is so high, the final is going to knock your socks off! It's going to be an amazing night. All of the finalists could be great recording artists. It's going to be a tough decision, but we will have to vote on the way the artists perform on the night!" Four hopefuls didn't manage to get enough votes to make it to the final. They were Samantha Bird, Alan Jones, James Hudson and Michael Boulton. The remaining 13 contestants will all sing in the Grand Fox Factor Final at the Fox and Coney Easter Ball on Saturday 23rd April. The Fox Factor, in association with 96.9 Viking FM.

FOX FACTOR JUDGE SPOTTED - BUT WHO IS IT?!

You may be surprised to hear that this Fox Factor judge was spotted on the A63 this morning - not as a fox, but as a deer!

Yes, you guessed it - it's the lovely Rosie Madison from 96.9 Viking FM, fresh from judging the semi-final of the Fox Factor last night! This, of course, was part of her day job as co-presenter on the Paul Foster Breakfast Show. We love her at the Fox anad Coney Inn in South Cave!!

Normally, she's a goddess! This certainly doesn't show her as her normal glamorous self!

Did you beep her?!!

OOPS! FOX FACTOR COMPUTER ERROR SENDS WRONG PEOPLE HOME!

There's more controversy at East Yorkshire's best ever talent competition, the Fox Factor, after a computer error sent two contestants home that should have stayed in! Michael Boulton and James Hudson were told last night that they didn't get enough votes to stay in the competition - but it turns out they did! The mistake was only discovered this morning at the Fox and Coney Inn, South Cave. Of course, it also means that 2 people who should have gone home are still in the competition! Fox Factor Judge, Vince Garcia, said: "We can't tell 2 people at this stage that they can't sing next week, after already putting them through to the semi-finals. So what we've decided to do is to add an extra two contestants to the semi-finals and knock five out, so we're left with twelve for the Fox Factor final. Our fail-safe computer system clearly didn't work!" Michael and James have been contacted with the good news that they are still in the running for the Fox Factor crown. The votes for the others knocked out last night, Max Bayston, Chris Long and Reece Clark, were counted properly - and the decision on those contestants stands. The Fox Factor semi-final, in association with 96.9 Viking FM, is Acoustics Night. Come and join us on Thursday 14th April.

LAURA SETS THE BENCHMARK

Laura received a standing ovation for her performance this week!

Wow! The Fox Factor judges gave Laura Prescott a standing ovation last night with her amazing rendition of Adele's "Someone Like You".

You literally couldn't hear a pin drop in either the Fox and Coney Inn or The Bear Inn in South Cave as she took to the stage.

Giving his comments after her performance, former music producer and Fox Factor judge, Vince Garcia, said that she had more potential than anyone else to be a recording artist!

There were also great moments from Georgia Drew, Kristian Eastwood, Tobias Sumpton and Alan Jones.

It's going to be an interesting week next week for the second part of Heat 3. Beth O'Grady will be singing - she's been a favourite of both the judges and the audience in previous weeks. Sara Thrustle's another one who delivers every week.

There are only a few weeks to go before the final - who do you think has the Fox Factor? The Fox Factor, in association with 96.9 Viking FM.

FOX FACTOR FAVOURITES

Beth O'Grady was the overall Heat 2 Favourite!

The Fox Factor, in association with 96.9 Viking FM, is certainly proving to live up to its name as the best talent show in East Yorkshire! And the judges and the audience at the Fox and Coney Inn are still divided as to who they prefer!

After seeing all artists perform across both weeks of Heat 2, Soul, Motown and Rhythm & Blues, the judges favourite was Kristian Eastwood, with Laura Prescott and Beth O'Grady in 2nd and 3rd place.

But then it was all change with the public vote! The audience preferred Becca Baldwin, followed by Alan Jones and Olivia Windmill.

Overall, though, once both sets of figures were put together, Beth O'Grady came out on top. Kristian Eastwood then had the next highest number of votes, followed by James Hudson.

It's all up in the air! Keep watching! It's Ballads Heat next!

ITV Calendar Broadcast Live From The Fox!

ITV Calendar Visits The Fox and Coney

What an exciting week! ITV Yorkshire's Calendar News asked us if they could come along to the Fox and Coney for a live broadcast into their flagship 6 o'clock News programme last night - and, of course, we were only too happy to help!

You can watch it here! Political correspondent Ben Erlam and the Calendar camera crew, Phil Iveson and Richard Sowden, were reporting on how the Budget will affect the lives of people in South Cave. Many thanks to Adam des Forges and Colin Dennis for agreeing to be interviewed and many of our other locals for volunteering to be seen in the background!

They also spoke to landlord Chris Duckworth and suggested that the Chancellor's declaration that there would be no new increases in alcohol tax would be good for business. Chris, though, explained that that wasn't strictly true because the last government left an alcohol escalator in place which means a 7% increase on beer, which will add 10p to a pint of beer.

Malcolm Watson, a financial advisor from Smailes Goldie Financial Management, also came along to give his view of the budget - and agreed there was limited appeal for anyone sitting in the pub at the time.

But a huge thank you to Calendar for visiting us in South Cave. What a nice bunch they are!

CONTROVERSY AT THE FOX FACTOR

Controversial decision from the Judges

The Fox Factor provoked some controversy last night when the judges decided not to vote anyone out!

The judges, including 96.9 Viking FM's Rosie Madison, said it was fairer for all competitors if their decision was held until after next week's vote when everyone had performed in Heat 2 of Bootcamp - Soul, Motown and Rhythm & Blues.

That way, it doesn't matter which week the talented hopefuls sing.

It wasn't a popular decision with the audience, but it now seems the majority agree it's a much fairer system. So we'll all have to wait until next Thursday at the Fox and Coney Inn, South Cave, to find out who will go through to the next round of bootcamp.

Wednesday 16 March 2011

TEMPO SET TO RISE IN FOX FACTOR

Laura Prescott is just one of the talents singing on Thursday
As we look forward to Heat 2 of Fox Factor Bootcamp at the Fox and Coney Inn, South Cave, the tempo is changing and our contestants are all going to be finding it a lot harder!

Over the next two Thursdays hopefuls will be singing Motown, Soul and Rhythm & Blues.

Former music producer and Fox Factor judge Vince Garcia says that this will really stretch their vocal abilities.

"All the big singers have come from this genre, like Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder to name but two, and the Rolling Stones were heavily influenced by it too. This is not going to be easy for contestants. They're really going to have to pull all the stops out."

Heat 2, Week one of the Fox Factor, in association with 96.9 Viking FM, is on Thursday 17th March (Happy St. Patrick's Day!). It's East Yorkshire's hottest talent competition! Can the contestants handle it?!!

Monday 14 March 2011

WHO IS YOUR FOX FACTOR FAVOURITE?

Olivia Windmill came top of Thursday's leader board
The Fox Factor, in association with Viking FM, saw the strongest night on Thursday in terms of singing, according to judges, and from now on it's just going to get more difficult.

The judges favourites were Tamar Draper, followed by Olivia Windmill and Sara Thrustle. Once again, though, the audience disagreed. Top of the public vote was Olivia Windmill, with the Wagner of the Fox Factor, Chris Allison, coming second after his hilarious take on Tom Jones' Sex Bomb, and Becca Baldwin in third.

Overall, Olivia topped the night's leader board, followed by Tamar and Summer Rozenbroek. You can check them all out and make your own decision by watching the video highlights on the Fox website.

Co-owner of the Fox and Coney Inn, Vince Garcia, a former music producer and Fox Factor judge, says this competition is wide open.

What do you think?

Audience Vote Makes a Real Difference

It made all the difference for Becca Baldwin!

East Yorkshire's hottest talent competition, the Fox Factor, could be won or lost on the audience vote.

There were just over 2,400 votes from fans after Thursday night's performance at the Fox and Coney Inn, South Cave - and their value cannot be underestimated.

It made all the difference for Becca Baldwin. After the judges vote, Becca was in line to be knocked out of the competition but the audience disagreed with the judges. Becca came third in the public vote and managed to lift herself out of the bottom three.

Judges, including former music producer Vince Garcia and 96.9 Viking FM's Rosie Madison, agreed that it was the strongest show yet in terms of singers - and it's just going to get tougher from now on!

Monday 7 March 2011

FOX FACTOR JUDGES AND AUDIENCE DON'T AGREE

Tobias was the Judges' Favourite this week!

There are some clear favourites already starting to emerge in East Yorkshire's best ever talent competition, the Fox Factor - and it appears the Fox Factor judges, including 96.9 Viking FM's Rosie Madison, and the audience are not entirely in agreement!

After votes were cast, the judges top three in Rock, Pop and Soul Week 1 were Tobias Sumpton, Kristian Burke and Beth O'Grady. The audience, however, with a whopping 1142 votes, preferred Beth O'Grady, followed by Samantha Bond and Dean Wildboar!

Of course, that's good news for Beth O'Grady because she's a favourite with everyone!

The remaining Heat One contestants will battle it out this Thursday in Rock, Pop and Soul Week 2.

Keep checking the blog for up-to-date news. Visit the Fox and Coney website for video highlights - and don't forget to follow us on Twitter and Facebook.

OVER 1100 AUDIENCE VOTES FOR FOX FACTOR BOOTCAMP

The Fox Factor, East Yorkshire's best talent competition, is continuing to wow the crowds - with over 1100 audience votes being cast as the bootcamp stage began! Thanks to all who voted.

13 contestants gave it their all as they sang to a live band for Rock, Pop and Blues week, Heat 1, at the Fox and Coney Inn, South Cave.

The audience votes were combined with the Judges vote to find out which two would be leaving the competition. This week singing dentist Natalie Kendrew, from Selby, and Ben Chandler, from Hotham, didn't make it.

There are 11 definites through to the next round so far. The remaining 17 will compete in this Thursday's Rock, Pop and Blues week, Heat 2. Another 4 contestants will be knocked out then, leaving just 24 bootcampers to battle it out to win not only studio recording time, but the massive £2000 Fox Factor first prize!

Check out the Fox and Coney website for the latest information and video highlights - and don't forget to follow us on Twitter and Facebook.
